Highlights of the Trip
Exploring Charleston: Continuing our vacation, we journeyed to Charleston, South Carolina. The Grand Bohemian Hotel Charleston was absolutely amazing with a Bohemian feel and lots of original artwork. We were welcomed with a choice of champagne or bottled water. We explored the hotel before setting out to familiarize ourselves with the area.
Forsyth Park: Another beautiful site in Savannah was Forsyth Park. This 3-acre park featured a beautiful fountain surrounded by trees with Spanish moss and large spacious grounds. The weather was perfect for this stop during our day.
Stone & Webster Chophouse: Our final dinner in Savannah was on the grounds of our hotel. The menu was quite appealing. Our appetizers included a Caesar salad and beef tartare. Our entrees were a 14 oz New York strip steak with a side of potatoes and grouper with a side of grilled asparagus.
First African Baptist Church: A nice visit to the First African Baptist Church. This place served as part of the Underground Railroad. This church was built by the slaves by candlelight as it had to be done after fieldwork hours. They would walk for three miles to the site to build the church. So much rich African American history here.
